In the mornings and nights of late June days, around twenty five people slept, ate and lived chanting ZONASA in their minds. From late night discussions about costumes to midnight drafting to buying materials to practicing non-stop for hours to perfect a step, a week went by everyone sacrificing sleep and food , yet hoping for the best outcome of the few people who worked day and night draining every ounce of their energy. The night of the departure to Chennai came with a lot of preparation. The sheets had to be panel ready, the costumes and props had to be packed and a lot of sleepy heads needed to get things done and still in between all this chaos everyone was beyond excited and determined.

It was a sunny and bright morning in Hindustan University when the bus arrived. It has been a whirl wind of things happening ever since then. While the U.D AND U.Sec got ahead with the registration processes the rest unpacked and got ready for the coming events. Though the day went quite uneventful the evening started off with the inauguration of the convention, the evening got more exciting with the host college having their cultural events and a DJ night to get everyone in the spirit. After a very heart filling and lavish dinner, the respective college representatives moved on to pinning up sheets and preparation of the technical and cultural competitions for the next day. Rueben´s and SIDC sheets were pinned up with anticipation over the night by students.

The second day of convention got the students in track of events. On the spot events were actively participated in, out of which McGan´s won the Nerd Talk. Seminars and informative classes were held throughout the day and were initiatively attended. The convention ground was lit for the cultural competitions and that brought colour and excitement to the evening. The students got busy with preparations and costume changes. The hours preceding the events got everyone drained and exhausted but the students managed to put up a good show. Both the events, Fashion show and Dance got positive reviews.

The third day brought a lot of excitement, adrenaline and winning. The proudest moment came when McGan´s was called onstage three times consecutively. There wasn´t a time when the flag of McGan´s was put down. Special mention in Fashion Show and HITS Trophy and Jury´s Choice in product design sent the students in heights of happiness.

The convention was concluded with a lot of happy hearts yet sorrowful over the fact that three days of mind-numbing noises of the drums and heart wrenching anticipation and adrenaline is over, swept over each one of them.

And also, I would like to put in few personal words on the experience I had in the three days at the convention. Arundati Roy in God of small things says few words which relates to what I have to say "Perhaps it is true that things can change in a day. That a few dozen hours can affect the outcome of whole lifetimes. It is preserved, accounted for. Little events, ordinary things, smashed and reconstituted is imbued with new meaning. Suddenly they become bleached bones of a story". Though it wasn´t the prettiest of picture there, with accommodation issues and time lapses and not having things done correctly, I am still sort of reeling in the wake of those three days, overwhelmed by the experience and already, inevitably a little bit nostalgic.
