Village Survey 2nd year 2017-18
The village identified for the rural studies was Kiranagi, 25 kms from Gulbarga.The total geographical area of village is 5059.68 hectares. Kiranagi has a total population of 5,465 peoples. There are about 1,020 houses in Kiranagi village. At first glance, the visitor is struck by the consistent use of Shahabad stone slabs for both flooring and roofing in the houses. Even the streets were stone paved in some Batch 2016 places. There are many striking features of the houses there but the one which stands out is the ornate entrance doors and the pair of horses which adorn their sides symbolising prosperity and growth. The house thus becoming a chariot. Students traveled from Gulburga to Kirangi in private coaches each day and had to leave the hotel premises after breakfast by 8:00 am every day.They went prepared with check-list and instructions from the faculty.At lunch which was organised at the local Math in the village, the students gathered to clarify any of their doubts and went back to work. In the evening their work progress was reported by faculty member Architect Dharani each day and they were also marked for their site visit work. The village was divided into 8 zones, each to be handled by a group of nearly 10 students.
