The mission of McGAN’S Ooty School of Architecture is to nurture and inspire design-minded students. Our students demonstrate a firm foundation of critical thinking, ethical behaviour and a culture of professional practice, on their way to becoming socially responsible leaders of change for our global society. McGAN’S achieves this mission through: A progressive curriculum, taught by accomplished, active faculties. Practitioner-based models of learning focused on problem-solving, experiential learning and process-based design. Active participation and engagement in our local and global community. Vision
McGAN’S Ooty School of Architecture is committed to create a world class learning centre for architecture in India. We are blessed to be sitting amidst one of the most scenic landscape in South India which naturally makes us more sensitive to environment. At McGAN’S we understand that architecture requires knowledge of many disciplines like arts, engineering, model making, sociology, anthropology and other allied disciplines. The teaching methodology at McGAN’S is not only restricted to classrooms but goes beyond the four walls. Our institution not only aims at creating mere graduates but also preparing our students for numerous challenges in the profession, also turning them to much better human beings.

McGans World Record Event 2023 - 160 Artists, 160 Paintings, 160 Meters, 120 Minutes
McGans World Record Event 2023 showcases 160 artists setting a world record by creating 160 stunning pictures of India's famous tourist spots in just 2 hours. These remarkable paintings are displayed on a 160-meter canvas and have gained international recognition, including a place in the India Book of Records.

Heritage walk
McGAN'S OOTY School of Architecture undertakes Ooty Heritage walk in collaboration with ICOMOS INDIA. The walk is part of the Heritage Club activity aimed to ensure that young architecture students remain motivated by the region's scenic architecture and cultural heritage. The walk is led by Associate Professor Ar. Shahzad Ahmed Malik accompanied by Associate Professor Ar. Vani Soundarya.

McGAN'S collabration with NMR
Phase two of Nilgiri Mountain Railway docuntation was carried out by batch 2020 on 18th and 19th March 2022 assisted by Ar.Aruna Palanisami and Ar. Greeshma susan. A total of six stations were surveyed and documented as part of this program.

8th Graduation Day - 2021
The 8th Annual Convocation ceremony of the McGAN’S Ooty School of Architecture was held on Monday, November 1st 2021 around 10AM at the HADP Convention Hall in Ooty.
In this convocation, a total of 72 students of McGan'S Ooty School of Architecture, Affiliated to Anna University & approved by the Council of Architecture, received their graduation.
The Dean of the Institution Prof. G.Selvakumar welcomed the gathering.
Mr.N.Muralikumaran, Chairman of the institution declared the graduation day open & administered the oath for the newly graduated candidates.
The Institution’s Annual report was delivered by the Principal, Prof.N.S.Saravanan.
The honourable chief guest, President of Dravidar Kazhagam & Chancellor of Periyar Maniyammai Institute of Science & Technology, Asiriyar, Dr. K.Veeramani, presided over the function, congratulated the graduates with his motivational talk and distributed the certificates to the students.
The function was graced with the presence of the guest of honour, Thiru. A.Krishnaswamy, Member of Legislative Assembly, Poonamallee Constituency, Tamilnadu.
The function ended with the vote of thanks delivered by the Head of the Department.
Discussion with CEPT Team
We are extremely happy and thankful to the CEPT team for the 3 day long visit to the campus and for the interactive sessions with our faculty and students as part of the MoU program. CEPT expert team discussed on the proceedings of ongoing and upcoming modules to provide improved learning for the students of Mcgans. Student's from different semesters had an opportunity to exchange their ideas and discuss work in person with the expert team on communication English and foundation design studio.

On 27th Feb 2021, CEPT University signed a Memorandum of Understanding for a mentorship program with McGan’s Ooty School of Architecture, Ooty. Presided over by Chief Guest, Smt. Anju Sharma, Principal Secretary for Higher Education, the MoU is in line with the New Education Policy of the Government of India. It marks a new beginning for CEPT University, which is recognized nationally and internationally for its high-quality education, research and advisory work. Started in 1962 as School of Architecture, around the same time as the National Institute of Design (NID) and the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), CEPT has carved a niche for itself as a leading university focused on the disciplines of habitat.
MoA with IIT CUBE
McGAN’S Ooty School of Architecture has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with CUBE – CENTRE FOR URBANIZATION, BUILDINGS AND ENVIRONMENT, IIT Madras which is declared as the centre for excellence by the Government of Tamil Nadu, to coordinate in the field of Research, Teaching, Professional development programs, development and implementation of research projects. The key focus of this collaboration is to bridge the gap between Academia, Research and Professional practice. The collaboration is to extend cooperation in various areas of interest including Green Buildings, Technical Advisory, Capacity Building and Environmental Sustainability utilizing CUBE’s industrial experience and McGAN’S technical skills in urban built environment. Also, this MoA paves way to jointly prepare proposals and maintain the exclusivity of the collaboration for the projects and their requirements.
